The Care Home need for food waste service

Oriel Care has been around for 30 years, with the current owner since 2012, who has long experience in health and social care. Giving the best end-of-life experience for everyone as Oriel Care says they deserve it. The Care Home’s values are quality care in a homely environment with a personal approach.

​Oriel Care Home was producing waste and thought it was a shame for that to have to go to the landfill, so they decided to choose a better way of doing things, that’s more sustainable.

Our Solution.

• We carried out an audit of the waste. Then it is for recycling and food waste.
• Best practice was the introduction of indoor and outdoor safe systems.
• We installed a large food waste bin, saving on space, and on cost too.
• Our team collects the bin from the end of their car park, making it easier for staff who had to wheel it out themselves before us.​

Oriel House Care Home is now producing an average food waste amount of 450 kg every month.
Enough energy to power a fridge for over 2 years!
