WASTE SERVICE IN PLACE: FOOD WASTE | STARTED: NOV 2022
Background The School is an inner-city Infant School based in Birmingham. They have a very strong community feel and have been home to generations of families who were all taught at Sladefield. The school's ethos has been built around the ‘Sladefield Values’ providing a framework where everyone who comes to the school can buy into and succeed. The need for a food waste service Sladefield wants their children to understand the importance of the environment, and how food waste can be turned into renewable energy. They have created an ‘Eco Committee’ that champions the awareness of climate change, as well as the role that the school can play in reducing its carbon footprint. |
Our Solution.
Sladefield School is now producing an average food waste amount of 370kg every school month.
It’s enough energy to power a fridge for 2 years! 370kg |
School Testimonial.
"This has raised awareness for the children in the importance of recycling food waste. We invited Oliver to visit our school to take part in a whole school assembly and a School Eco Committee meeting. This has contributed to our Green Flag application and we have noticed a decrease in food waste. We would recommend this service to other schools."

We helped educate the pupils at the school by performing a classroom assembly for them, encouraging and educating sustainability.

Modus Own Words.
It has been a fitting solution for Sladefield Infant School, not only in view of the food waste compliance regulation schools must adhere to, but in that, Sladefield was already an eco-ambitious school who advocates for the pupils to engage in sustainability practices.
We’re pleased to hear the pupils enjoyed the classroom assembly we did for the school with some of their inspiring pupils.
